Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few of the frequently asked questions that we get asked.  Click on one of the questions below to find out more.  If you don't find the answer to your question here, please do get in touch.

Where is St. George's?

St George's Church is in Hafsia, just outside the old medina of Tunis.  You can find directions here.

Where can I park?

Parking is often difficult near St George's, apart from early morning or late evening.  This map shows you three possible guarded off-street places to park, or try your luck on-street.

Can I get married in the church?

The short answer is "No". You need to get legally married elsewhere. Tunisians marry according to Tunisian law. Visitors from other countries need to consult the consular section of their own Embassy.

However, it may be possible for a blessing in St George's church to be arranged for you after a civil marriage elsewhere. Please contact the Rector if you are interested in exploring this possibility.

Yes there is: the St George's University Students Group. For more details, please contact Talent Manyani.

Is the church open during the week for me to look around?

Yes it is. Come to the main church entrance on rue Mongi Slim any Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday anytime between 9.30am and 1.00pm and you should find the gate open.

You are welcome to come and sit in the garden, look at some of the historic gravestones, talk to staff or others who may be around, or visit the church itself.
