The Diocese of Egypt is part of the Anglican Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East. Four dioceses make up that province:
- the Diocese of Jerusalem,
- the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf,
- the Diocese of Iran,
- and the Diocese of Egypt with North Africa and the Horn of Africa.
The four diocesan bishops take it in turn to be president bishop, representing the whole province at international level. At the moment, Bishop Mouneer Anis is President Bishop of the Province.

There are some thirty-four provinces that together constitute the worldwide Anglican Communion. In that communion, the Archbishop of Canterbury is seen as a sign of its unity and representative of the whole communion to the non-Anglican world. Today, sadly, there are severe stresses within the Anglican Communion at both international and national levels.
